About Ruger

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc., more commonly known as Ruger, is an American firearm manufacturing company based in Southport, Connecticut. The company that was founded back in 1949 has ranked for many years among the world’s most popular revolver makers. Apart from its headquarters in Connecticut, Ruger has got a couple of other facilities dispersed across the states - Newport, New Hampshire; Mayodan, North Carolina; and Prescott, Arizona. Apart from its single- and double-action revolvers, Ruger also produces a vast array of bolt-action, semi-automatic, and single-shot rifles, but also a number of popular semi-automatic pistols, ideal mainly for everyday concealed carry. According to the ATF statistics for 2015, Ruger is currently America's largest firearm manufacturer, as well as the second largest pistol and revolver manufacturer (behind Smith & Wesson) and rifle manufacturer (behind Remington) in the United States.

When it comes to double-action revolvers, Ruger’s most successful series are the Ruger SP101 and Ruger GP100. The SP101 line of revolvers has also become a very popular everyday carry choice, as these guns are quite compact and easily concealed. Ruger also produces a couple of “bigger” revolvers such as the Ruger Redhawk or Super Redhawk. However, Ruger has also got a lot to offer to the lovers of the Old West single-action revolvers. Their most popular western six-shooters in a modern coating are without a doubt the Ruger Vaquero and Ruger Wrangler.

The Ruger company is also one of the leaders in the field of everyday concealed carry pistols. Their LCP, LCP II, and LC9 have enjoyed immense popularity over the last couple of years, when deep concealment has become of the utmost importance in most of the states across the US. Ruger also manufactures their own line of America’s most famous handgun - the M1911. Ruger’s line of 1911 pistols is referred to as the Ruger SR1911 Series and it includes three different models - SR1911, SR1911 Commander, and SR1911 Lightweight Commander.
